Space Planning

 Traditionally space planning is an essential ingredient of the interior design process. We start with a detailed analysis of how the space is to be used. Our designer then prepares the necessary calculations and produces a plan that distinguishes the zones of the space and the activities that will take place in those zones. The space plan will also identify the circulation patterns that show how people will move through the space.  The plan is completed by adding particulars of all the elements such as furniture, equipment and hardware placement.

Space Planning post Covid 19

 The aftermath of Covid 19 is still unclear, the extent of the change that will be forced in working and shopping environments has yet to be understood. However one thing we know for sure is that there will be change. There will be change to the permitted occupancy numbers in the office or retail space, the circulation patterns and subsequent flow or movement of people in the common areas and a change in approach to communal areas such as dining rooms and meeting rooms.

 

There will be the addition of acrylic health screens, more signage, innovative fixtures and fittings, greater attention to air flow, sanitization and an attention to detail to reduce double handling of paperwork and similar.
